WHAT IS IT? HOW DO YOU DO IT?

The 21 Day SGUT challenge is a body transformation challenge which involves following a clean eating plan which involves a few changes to your daily diet, and using Strength & High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) protocols over a 21-day journey.

WHAT STRENGTH TRAINING WILL I BE DOING?

Your strength training plan uses multiple joint movements which over small reps (5-10) will build good strong lean muscle. This is plan is broken into 3 days of each week, (Push day, Pull day & Legs day).

WHAT WILL I DO ON THE STRENGTH DAYS AND WHAT ARE MULTIPLE JOINT STRENGTH MOVEMENTS?

  • Push day – We focus on all pushing movements like Bench Press, Shoulder Press & Triceps etc
  • Pull day – Covers all pulling movements like Bent over Row’s, Lat Pull Downs, Pull ups’s Bicep Curls etc
  • Legs day – Everything below the waist Step Up’s Squats, Deadlifts!! (In between the sets you will have perform bodyweight & abdominal exercises to keep your heart rate high).

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I BE DOING? AND WHAT IF I CANNOT MAKE ONE?

You will be aiming for 21 sessions within the 21 days, which are a mixture of HIIT classes and following the Strength training plan, and if you cannot make the gym there is a SGUT Body weight blitz routine is in the downloads section.

WHAT IS HIIT?

High Intensity fitness classes HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This combination of body weight and cardio vascular training gets, and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time. The good news is that (HIIT) keeps burning the fat long after the training has finished this is called Excess Post Oxygen Consumption (E.P.O.C).

WHAT IS EPOC?

After an exercise workout is completed, oxygen uptake (VO2) remains elevated for some time over resting levels. This phenomenon is called, straightforwardly enough, “Elevated Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption” or EPOC. The duration and total amount of EPOC varies according to the duration and intensity of the workout. The increased VO2 means a increase in calories burned after the workout as well, Sexy eh??!

WHAT IS THE CLEAN EATING PLAN?

This is where we go back to basics; we take out all the stuff we feel adds too much junk in the trunk and give your body exactly the right fuel to keep you on top of your game, Be prepared to try to lose Gluten from your diet.

WHAT IF I AM NOT SURE IF I AM FIT ENOUGH TO DO 21 SESSIONS IN 21 DAYS?

The challenge is designed to be demanding, but also achievable if you feel you do not have the energy then do a brisk walk, or some other low level exercise (Swimming, Cycling, etc). But sitting on your backside doing nothing will not be accepted nor burn any calories “Not so Sexy!”.
